200-Hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training in Greece
Join this program which includes a transformational and therapeutic approach to yoga. You will explore Vinyasa flow, Hatha, and Restorative yoga through an anatomy-informed alignment system. You will learn modifications and adaptations for all bodies including special populations such as seniors and those with injuries. The therapeutic perspective explores yoga as a vehicle for vibrant health, personal empowerment, and total well-being. Soma Yoga Institute will be a combination of modern-day biomechanics and research-driven science with ancient teachings. You will leave with an understanding of anatomy, alignment, and modifications to keep your body safe for a lifetime of practice. The non-dogmatic approach explores yoga philosophy as a practice of radical self-love uncovering perspectives that encourage body positivity, unconditional acceptance, personal empowerment, and true mind-body-spirit health and wellness.

Accommodation:
Evia Silence is a beautiful retreat center. The rooms are a comfortable 30 sq meters. All rooms include balconies with a vast view of the neighboring sea, air conditioning, and flat-screen televisions. All rooms are designed in accordance with their commitment to provide a calming retreat from the stresses of city life.
Just a one-minute walk from your door to the sea, “Evia Silence” provides accessible docks for swimming and sunbathing. They also neighbor an array of beautiful trails and small roads that are perfect for anyone looking to jog, trek, or venture into the wilderness of the mountainside. While they take great pride in their property’s view, they also can guide you in exploring all the high and low views the magical valley offers.
A variety of shared options include quad rooms, triples, and doubles. Private accommodation is also available. All units are air-conditioned with en-suite baths. Some units have a terrace and/or balcony with sea or mountain views. Wifi available.
The Greece program is scheduled as an intensive program. While the program days are full, the activities of the day are kept diverse and active. The days really are a wonderful mix of digesting concepts intellectually, applying the concepts experientially, and diving into the practices of yoga. Care is taken within the program schedule to ensure that students have a healthy experience both physically and mentally.
Soma Yoga Institute promises not to keep you sedentary for too long. There is physical activity and deep relaxation built into the program every day. Two days off mid-program provide you with time to explore and adventure to local sacred sites.
Immerse in yoga at 200-hour teacher training
This teacher training offers students in-depth skills to explore yoga as a vehicle for holistic health, self-transformation, and personal empowerment.
The curriculum includes a unique blend of alignment-based Vinyasa flow yoga, a solid foundation in Hatha yoga, and 200 hours of instruction offered within a therapeutic framework.
The instruction will cover a wide range of yoga techniques including yoga postures, yoga anatomy, relaxation, breath awareness, pranayama, meditations to calm the mind, contemplations to transform limiting tendencies into life-affirming thought patterns, and the application of clear, anatomy-informed principles of alignment to create safety, balance, and freedom in yoga poses.
Students explore yoga’s ancient teachings and concepts from yogic philosophy including Ayurveda, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Chakra System as frameworks for the application of Yoga as a journey towards radiant health and well-being.
The physical practice emphasis includes hatha and vinyasa yoga offered through a lens of biomechanically sound and anatomy-informed alignment. Expect both mindful vinyasa flow sequencing as well as gentler and restorative variations. You will practice physical postures from all categories of poses including standing poses, hip openers, forward bends, backward bends, twists, inversions, balancing, supine, seated, and prone.
Variations for all levels of practitioners will be provided in yoga practice, all abilities and all bodies are welcome to attend. Rather than offer standard sequencing or rigid methodologies, students are exposed to frameworks that inspire each yoga teacher to adopt the practices, awaken their creativity, and find their own authentic voice as a yoga teacher. Graduates of this program feel empowered to teach a variety of yoga class types, including all levels of Vinyasa flow yoga, alignment-based classes, yoga foundations, senior, gentle, and restorative.

Liz Heffernan, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT is an international yoga teacher and certified Yoga Therapist. She draws from over 25 years of teaching and extensive training in the Hatha yoga systems of Kripalu, Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ashtanga yoga and Anusara. She currently directs and leads Yoga teacher trainings and workshops in worldwide locations, provides unique one-to-one mentoring for yoga teachers wishing to improve their skills and delivery, instructs daily yoga classes and offers private therapeutic sessions. Her teaching weaves together philosophy, creative sequencing, clear alignment, mindful breathing, and compassionate self-inquiry to form a tapestry that reflects her heartfelt commitment to this transformative path.
Christine McArdle, MA, AUTHOR, E-RYT 500, YACEP
Christine, a seasoned yoga instructor and founder of the international school Om Shree Om, began her yoga journey in 1990, driven by a desire for emotional balance and mental clarity from her stressful teaching career. Renowned for her expertise in therapeutic yoga, Christine excels in teaching alignment, biomechanics, and fascial health, integrating these into a holistic approach that promotes healing and well-being. As a teacher trainer, she imparts this deep knowledge to aspiring yoga teachers, enhancing their practices with her fun-spirited and engaging teaching style. Her methodology not only addresses individual needs but also emphasizes the importance of fascia and miofascial lines in supporting effective and safe yoga practices.

Daily schedule:
- 06:30 Meditation, pranayama, and gentle movement

The chef at Evia Silence Retreat prepares delicious, high-quality food using only the finest of local produce and ingredients. The meals are vegetarian Mediterranean-Greek cuisine and include breakfast, lite-lunch and dinner. Soma Yoga Insititute will make transportation to the retreat easy and safe for you. Transfer from Athens International Airport to the hotel and return by group shuttle. A group shuttle will be arranged from Athens Airport to Evia Silence. The shuttle will leave Athen’s Airport at 1:00 pm on 6/25/25. For return on July 12, the shuttle will depart Evia Silence retreat in time for flights leaving after 12:00pm. The cost of the group shuttle is 60 EUR each way per person. Shuttle times will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate student’s departure times. A private taxi can be arranged for 180 EUR each way. The shuttle ride is 2.5 hours long.
