My name is Annie and I live and breathe (pardon the pun!) YOGA!
I’m an experienced teacher, having taught approximately 750-800 classes in the last year and a half at my current place of employment, House of Yoga in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.
I am an explorer and traveller by nature and have given my notice here in New Zealand to continue my studies and adventures abroad. I wish to complete my 300 hour training in India (or any other affordable, and reputable institute outside of India) by the end of the year.
I’m Australian and have been relocating and traveling to various places around the world within the last 9 years. I am looking for paid work or work in exchange for food and accommodation, until I find my feet back in India (or otherwise!) for my studies.
House of Yoga was a new business when I came on board as lead teacher, since then we have grown tremendously and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to build a community from new and old yoga practitioners; it will be very sad, indeed, to say goodbye to these people I consider my New Zealand family.
I have conducted 5 workshops on inversions, pranayama, bends, binds & balances; 5 beginners courses, 1 pre-teen female only course and taught privately, one on one, for the last year.
I have a bigger vision for bringing yoga to more people outside of the confines of a studio and am working to building my own personal and professional life towards this purpose.
I have a natural zest and enthusiasm for life and especially the practice of yoga and meditation, as well as a curious nature to explore and learn as much as possible about this wonderful world we live in. I see life as a gift and intend to live it fully while I can!
I have a strong self practice for both the asana and meditation, I believe it is important to practice what you preach. I am also vigilant when it comes to nutrition and other aspects of health and prefer a diet which is vegan.

A Little More About Me
|Currently teaching at:|
Experience & Qualifications
Vinyasa Flow, Power, Deep Stretch, Hatha
I currently teach Vinyasa Flows, Slow Flow, Power, Deep Stretch & Hatha yoga 2-3 times daily, 5 days a week and have been doing this for the past 1 and a half years.
Prior to this I was working full time as a vet nurse and teaching community and charity yoga classes to beginners and intermediate practitioners 1-2 days a week.
I have a strong and disciplined self practice of both the asana and meditation and have been practicing asana since 1999; only in the last 9 years has my practice gained depth and become transformative, personally and professionally.
I have taken classes all over the world from all styles and teachers and consider myself very lucky to have been exposed to such a broad array of yoga. I do not consider myself stuck in one style at all and continue to evolve my own practice and classes according to what I experience and learn about what works and why, so the practitioner may find optimal use of their physical, mental and subtle bodies.
I believe yoga to be the practice of non-resistance and this state to be achieved not through asana alone, but though the fusion of mind, body and breathe alignment.
I am also a Vipassana meditator and consider this a very important aspect of my own ability in developing non-resistance and fine tuning our mental and physical bodies to remove accumulated distractions and unnecessary density so we may move towards a life which may better serve its purpose.
I am a fast learner and am able to modify and adapt my classes to suit the space and accommodate students at all levels. I have taught or students with cases of injury, disease and mental illness, and also, in all stages of pregnancy.
I trained predominantly through the Sivenanda lineage in India, and most recently, a style known as Sampoorna Yoga at Yogi Haris Ashram in Miami, Florida, USA.
