I love to move and watch others discover their own creativity, desires and power through movement. This is what drives my yoga practice – by exploring, expanding and testing the limits and possibilities of the body, what can we uncover in ourselves?
A Little More About Me
Experience & Qualifications
Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yoga and Dance, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga
I started teaching contemporary dance, working with everyone from early years to adults, and seeing the joy people take in movement inspired me to pursue yoga teaching as well. From rolling on the floor to leaping through the air I love to see how interconnected movement is – in teaching yoga all my movement experience informs my class. As a dance teacher I encourage students to connect with an unconscious and visceral aspect of themselves to explore movement, and this is something I aim to uncover through my yoga teaching too.
Since completing my teacher training I have been working in diverse contexts. I have been teaching yoga in various gyms, meeting a huge range of bodies, abilities, ages, and levels of yoga experience on the mat, and I’ve encountered people with very different desires from their yoga class. I’ve been able to introduce people to yoga and watch them progress and learn which is a complete privilege and joy. I’ve also learnt a lot about assisting and adapting to different bodies, and about how to explain chakras to marathon runners.
I’ve also run my own community class, introducing yoga to self-confessed yoga-phobes which always involves a lot of bad jokes, me falling over, and laughing a lot during kapalabhati breath.
I have recently returned from teaching at a surf camp in Costa Rica, under the jungle canopy, surrounded by the hum of the insects and the breath of the waves.
