Hi, my name is Gigi Santiago, and I am a 200 hr yoga alliance certified instructor. I have been teaching yoga/fitness since 1988. I studied yoga in India with Siddha Yoga. I lived in California and studied yoga as a student with many yoga teachers, Tim Miller, Ana Forest, and Rodney Yee. I primarily taught fitness workshops through the United States and abroad through the American Council on Exercise certified workshop presenter. In 1997, I was the co-creator to the indoor cycling program aka as Spinning. In 2007 my career ended with a back injury that caused me to become disabled. I suffered many years trying to rehabilitate and regain my movement. In the last five years, I have had great success to attain my mobility and started back to teaching Yoga/fitness. I bring a deliberate approach to yoga with the fitness conditioning element to the practice. I have put this program together, and I think the program could be a workshop that teachers could learn and take it to the mat. My plan allows people to move through yoga poses to develop their strength in achieving a successful yoga practice. I also have yoga certification from YogaFit and Integral yoga, and I just finished my 200 hr yoga certification and completed my requirements with Yoga Alliance.

A Little More About Me
I also teach and assist children and adults with special needs. I work at facilities for children at risk with my program “ICAN” a mindfulness/yoga program that I have written and developed. I hold certifications through YogaKids, Karma Kids Yoga and Sonia Sumar Yoga for the Special Child. I became interested in the area of special needs yoga through the challenges I experienced with my son. He has Dietz Syndrome, a spectrum of Marfan Syndrome. It was through his journey that I developed the practice to help him. Through my experiences with his growing development, I learned a variety of techniques that would help him. The “ICAN” program is a yoga/mindfulness program that I created that helps with special needs children with achieving their goals and engaging into the community. I work for Behavioral therapy agencies and state facility to support adult and children with special needs.
Today I teach yoga classes for adults incorporating a fitness element to the yoga practice. I teach children at facilities that have children with challenging behaviors.
I am ready to take these programs and develop a business model that could help more people and continue the work that I have created.
