I’m Milan, 30, Dutch, and living in Amsterdam. I’m a yoga teacher and writer, very interested in off the grid living.
Although I am very happy in Amsterdam, I want to work and live abroad for up to a year and learn all about off the grid living. I am very interested to learn about setting up and taking care of sustainable ways to create energy and food. Simply said, to learn how to live more in harmony with the earth.
I am schooled as a Hatha Yoga teacher in Rishikesh, India, where I graduated in 2017. I have been teaching in Amsterdam since, where I have been giving four to five classes a week. Next to Hatha, I have experience in teaching Meditation, Pranayama, Restorative, Nidra, Yin and Iyengar.
Teaching is for me, like writing, a meditation in itself. It is one of those rare moments I am actually fully present with the flow of my being. I never really prepare my classes but somehow every time something new comes through. This is a very satisfying and yet humbling experience. In my classes I am trying to create a sense of welcoming safety, as well as a spiritual experience. All through working with the body and the breath.
At the yoga studio in Amsterdam where I teach, I have also been the studio manager for over a year. During this year I got a lot of experience with the business end of running a school. I did client communication, marketing, the back office, built a new website and sales.
Also, I am currently in the proces of publishing my first book, while writing my second. Stories are, next to teaching, my other great passion. And, although completely different in nature, the experience of writing is similar to what happens when I teach. The mysterious nature of story keeps fascinating me, even after all these years. To combine my teaching and writing skills, I have been developing a meditative writing workshop. In these workshops I help people connect to their own subconscious as well as finding their unique writing voice.
So, what I can offer to you are my teaching skills, my managerial skills, my writing skills and physical labour. The latter is what I really miss in my city life. That feeling of being genuinely, physically, tired after a hard day’s work is something I long for. There are so many beautiful projects on this website that I have no doubt the right one will present itself. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you feel that we could be a match. So maybe we’ll meet in the foreseeable future.
