Hello! My name is nico. I’m a dedicated yogi, passionate activist, and grateful student.
I was first introduced to Hindu philosophy and Yogic practices in 2013 while living at an ashram in Hawaii. The newfound spiritual/physical practices i learned at the ashram opened my mind and heart in radically new ways. Much of what i learned–and certainly the most transformative lessons–was how little i knew.
A deep desire to know led me to move in India in 2014. I lived in Varanasi, where i studied Yogic studies, Hindu philosophy, and comparative religion at Benares Hindu University. My studies at BHU, alongside my experiences in Varanasi, were transformative, and i returned to the US in 2015 with a dedicated spiritual practice (of which asana continued to play a central role).
A year later i returned to India, this time Rishikesh, to complete my 200 hour YTT. The asana training was focused on ashtanga yoga, and it is the style i have personally practiced ever since (coming on 4 years).
From here, after completing my undergraduate degree in International Political Economy, i moved to Nicaragua where i taught high school for 18 months.
In 2018 i moved to Colombia to serve as the assistant manager of Flying Tree Yoga. In addition to helping manage the studio, i taught weekly asana classes in English and Spanish, and every month helped to instruct a new batch of students in the 200 hr YTT that Flying Tree Yoga conducted (focussing on advanced asanas, sequencing, and Hindu philosophy).
After 7 months working at Flying Tree Yoga i moved to NYC for a Masters program in Animal Studies. I completed my degree in August, 2020.
Yoga will forever be a central tenant and practice of my life. I LOVE teaching and sharing it with others, and am eager to find novel opportunities around the world to continue doing so.
