I am a massage therapist and soon-to-be yoga teacher (Feb 2019), who just started to teach massage domestically and internationally. My three passions in life are: teaching, travel, and bodywork. My hope is to start a non-profit that offers free massage courses to women in developing countries so that they may attain economic independence and spread healing in the world. I love connecting with people with similar passions and finding communities that aim for the greater good.

I am a former literature professor, who left the world of academia to follow my heart and pursue the healing arts. I was always fascinated by somatic studies and published a book on the history of the body in Japan, but ultimately, I decided that I wanted to study the body directly with my hands. My journey in the healing arts began by volunteering at oncology clinics and hospices, where I learned much about the truthfulness of the body and about how trauma manifests itself inside the body. These experiences led me to study my favorite modality, Craniosacral Therapy, a light touch modality that leads one’s hands to the source of the bodily pain and emotional blockages. Craniosacral Therapy taught me that one’s body has the inner wisdom to heal itself, that your body is its best healer. In my opinion, no matter what modality, a great bodywork session always communicates deeply with this inner wisdom. My travels are devoted to learning healing arts in different cultures to study this somatic communication from a variety of perspectives.
