Santosha, LLC is the company name that I use to promote my yoga instruction and meditation services. The name, Santosha (or samtosa) is one of the five niyamas (personal observances) described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. It is most often translated as contentment and is an invitation to be just as you are without looking for outside sources of happiness. I try to cultivate this attitude of contentment in my yoga classes; the understanding that despite our strengths or limitations, despite periods of great joy or despair, we can find comfort in the knowledge of who we are and humbly act in ways that support us and those around us.

A Little More About Me
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
I received my initial yoga training from The Integrated School of Yoga where I learned to teach several styles including Traditional Hatha Yoga, Classical Raja Yoga, Power Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Artistic Yoga, Corporate/Chair Yoga, and Yoga Therapy. My favorite is Yoga Integral, which is a free form yoga style that is great for increasing flexibility. It includes variations on poses such as laterals, twists, asymmetries, and partial postures that access all parts of the body and leave you feeling unblocked and free. It can be practiced very gently and I love the way that this style makes me feel.
I have also studied Vinyasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami and Arun Deva and completed a 500-hr yoga teacher certification in the T. Krishnamacharya tradition. This tradition emphasizes that the yoga path is different for different people. It does not promote trying to achieve some ideal form of yoga posture or following a rigid format; rather, it suggests that the yoga practice must be tailored to accommodate each person and meet them where they are. In this respect, it is a therapeutic form of yoga with great healing potential. In addition to dealing with my own major joint injuries and arthritis, this training has made me particularly sensitive to people who are recovering from injuries or have other physical limitations.
