Picking Your Path: A Guide for Seekers

Picking Your Path: A Guide for Seekers

Life is long, start where you are

If you’re like me, options are often exciting and overwhelming. Yoga Trade fosters the common ambition of teachers and wellness professionals with diverse travel work opportunities, from colourful cities, humble European hillsides, slow remote islands, to mountain wilderness, and more. The only downside of being the main character is that while the world is your oyster, it omits a field map. With infinite possibilities, it’s fair to fear missing out on one lifestyle while pursuing another. This one is for seekers who want to do it all and don’t know where to start in choosing the right work travel trade.

Know your motivations

If you’re here, odds are balancing travel, work and personal growth is your ideal situation. And sure enough, all Yoga Trade opportunities offer this trifecta. Still, ‘right’ is subjective and each seeker has personal changing motives dependent on circumstance and goals. Ask yourself: What do I want to gain from my experience? Practice depth and diversity? Cultural immersion? Routine change? Determining your drivers will make your search productive and fruitful. Consider your goals for the most relevant experience, and adjust your search as they change. For example, if you want a slower pace from a stimulating city, perhaps seek quieter, more rural retreats in the mountains or near a coastline. Alternatively, urban options may better suit a craving for social and cultural experiences.

If indecision arises, assess your situation holistically and create a priority sequence noting variables including location, inclusions, and time commitment. Dive deep internally or draw a mind map of what fills your cup and start there. Be patient and gentle with yourself. Big life changes like moving overseas or leaving your 9 to 5 for the unfamiliar and unconventional are akin to spinning a wheel of emotions unsure where it will land. Forgetting yourself to find yourself is daunting and essential to personal development and exploration of higher potential.

We’ll be here when you get back

My sister always says life is long. A simple perspective shift that gifts us time and space. Slow down, breathe, start where you are, and make the most of more. This sentiment pairs well with my mom’s mantra ‘unstuck yourself.’ Ultimately, you know what you need at a given time and part of intentionally selecting an experience is internal evaluation. Doing something is better than nothing. Remember, Yoga Trade continuously advertises new opportunities so you can travel, work and explore to your heart’s content. If starting is a setback, visualize the abundant future adventures waiting for you. We’re big on enjoying the ride and have built Yoga Trade’s community around the ethos of a rewarding, inclusive journey with something for everyone.

The pursuit of peaceful adventure

Once you’ve picked your initial path, make the most of your experience by cultivating a symbiotic work exchange. Set clear intentions and what you want to achieve from where you are. Acceptance and open-mindedness help you adjust to a new environment while education and learning new skills or insights heighten your experience. For example, if you’re new to surfing and fear sharks, learning about the Apex creatures will alleviate concern, build respect and better equip you. Find your preferred way to reflect and document your journey to track your goals. The best journaling advice I’ve read is to write everyday, especially on the good days. Recollecting your adventures and highs and lows may inspire you and others. Yoga Trade is a global virtual network of like minds, beyond physical barriers. This community exists wherever you go, offering support, advice and potential opportunities, and when you’re ready, we’re here for you
